Daniel Ablitt

View artist's statement and CV

'Unusual and dramatic compositions encourage the viewer to look at their environment in a new way. I am concerned with evoking the particular mood and atmosphere of a place in a moment in time, and am fascinated by the effects of changing light and weather conditions.'

We discovered Daniel's work recently, instantly intrigued by the mysticism reminiscent of the paintings of Caspar David Friedrich. A small studio towering over Bristol is Daniel's vantage point, allowing him to focus on big skies, windswept birds and rooftops. Silhouettes of people are blown like the birds; people who are timeless, merging with ancient landscapes, in paintings that visualise dreams.
